Job summary

The CSL Group Inc. in Montreal, Canada, seeks an experienced Chief Engineer to lead the vessel’s propulsion and power systems, ensure safety, compliance, and optimal maintenance, and mentor the crew in line with ISM standards.

You will manage Preventative Maintenance, monitor machinery performance, and oversee budgetary and logistics aspects while upholding CSL’s commitment to safety, sustainability and innovation.

Qualifications

• Fully certified to operate vessels and comply with flag state requirements.
• ISM General training and compliance with maintenance standards.
• Strong leadership and team-management capabilities.
• Ability to plan maintenance and monitor budgets.

Responsibilities

• Provide effective motivation of the crew in compliance with policy.
• The safe, efficient and economical operation of all machinery; ensure maintenance instructions are followed.
• Maintain deck, propulsion and auxiliary machinery and control systems.
• Maneuver the main engine(s) as directed from the bridge.
• Keep Classification and Administration records and log books within the department.
• Prevent oil pollution and monitor bunkers and lubricants quality/quantity.

How will you contribute to our success?

• Provide effective motivation of the crew in compliance with its Policy
• The safe, efficient and economical operation of all machinery; the Chief Engineer will additionally ensure that the Preventative Maintenance working instructions relating to ISM “Critical Parts and Systems” or “Standard Preventative Maintenance” Certify that critical operations are continually verified
• The proper maintenance of all deck machinery, self-unloading machinery, propulsion, steering and auxiliary machinery together with associated control systems
• The maneuvering of the main engine(s) as directed from the bridge
• The keeping of proper Classification and Administration records and log books within his department
• The prevention of an response to oil pollution from the vessel
• The monitoring of bunkers and lubricants with respect to both quantity and quality
