National Bank of Canada is seeking a Chief Developer in Data Engineering to lead data architecture, modeling, and pipeline design within the Data Strategy team. You will shape analytical capabilities and drive cloud-based data platforms across Operations.

In this role, you’ll implement ETL/ELT pipelines, enforce data quality and governance, and collaborate across agile teams to deliver scalable solutions using SQL, Python, AWS, Snowflake, and modern CI/CD practices.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in a related field with five years of relevant experience, or a Master’s degree with three years of relevant experience.
• Strong experience in data engineering, including ETL/ELT pipeline development, large-scale data management, data modeling (Data Vault and dimensional modeling), and data architecture.
• Proficiency in SQL and Python for data transformation, integration, and analytics.
• Experience with cloud environments and modern data platforms (AWS, Snowflake, Terraform); familiarity with Git, GitHub Actions, Bitbucket, and Jira is an asset.
• Knowledge of software development best practices, automated testing, and CI/CD methodologies is an asset.
• Strong analytical thinking, autonomy, proactivity, collaboration and influencing skills in a fast-paced agile environment.
