Job summary

IS2 Workforce Solutions has an immediate opening for a Director of Construction to join its client’s senior leadership in Ontario. This strategic role oversees the General Contracting division, guiding Project Managers, Coordinators, and Field Leadership to deliver projects safely, efficiently, and profitably.

Qualifications

• 15+ years of progressive construction experience, including 7+ years in senior leadership overseeing multiple projects.
• Experience leading field ops and PM/Coord teams within a General Contracting environment.
• Strong knowledge of scheduling, forecasting, risk management, cost control, and dispute resolution.
• Familiarity with Ontario construction law, OHSA, contracts, change orders, and permitting.

Responsibilities

• Provide senior-level leadership and strategic direction for construction operations within the General Contracting division.
• Oversee and mentor the Field Operations Manager, Project Managers, and Project Coordinators.
• Align field operations with project management teams to ensure safe, on-time, and within-budget delivery.
• Coach, direct, and evaluate project teams to ensure quality delivery.
• Monitor performance from pre-construction through closeout with accountability for safety, quality, schedule, and financial results.
• Establish delegation, accountability, and reporting systems across project and site teams.
• Develop standardized procedures and best practices across all project phases.
• Oversee division-wide budget forecasting and cost tracking; review forecasts and earned value metrics.
• Identify opportunities to improve profitability, efficiency, and financial accountability.
• Lead risk assessment, claims, disputes, and crisis resolution as needed.
• Partner with People & Culture on recruitment, performance management, and succession planning.
• Develop KPIs and scorecards for direct reports and plan multi-year workforce strategy.
