Job summary

The City of Vancouver is seeking an outstanding Chief Building Official to lead Vancouver's building regulatory framework and public safety initiatives. This executive role directs building, plumbing, gas, and electrical inspection programs, policy development, and regulatory compliance, reporting to the General Manager.

The ideal candidate has a degree in Engineering or Architecture with BC registration eligibility, 10+ years of senior leadership experience, and a proven record in building

Qualifications

• Minimum of 10 years of progressively senior leadership experience.
• Experience leading unionized and non-unionized workforces.
• Expert knowledge of the National Building Code, BC Building Code, Vancouver Building By-law, and building regulatory practices.
• Experience in building regulation, construction, code administration, inspections, permitting, or a related field.
• Degree in Engineering or Architecture and eligibility for professional registration in British Columbia.
