We are seeking a highly motivated and visionary Chief Architect to join our Technology Team at Caseware, a leading SaaS organization. As the Chief Architect, you will play a critical role in shaping and developing our architecture and AI integration strategy, as well as implementing cloud-native solutions for our AWS-powered SaaS platform.

You will work closely with the CTO, Engineering, DevOps, Product, and Security teams to design scalable, secure, and high-performance products that transform the audit industry. Your expertise in AI/ML, multi-tenant SaaS, microservices, and cloud security will be instrumental in driving our technological innovation forward.

This is a full-time permanent position

Location: This is a flexible role available as hybrid (3 days in our Toronto office located at 351 King St E, Suite 1100, Toronto, ON) or fully remote for candidates residing and eligible to work in Canada.

What you will be doing:

1. Strategic Architecture Leadership: Define and execute a cloud-native, AI-driven architecture strategy, promoting AWS best practices, and leading the integration of advanced AI technologies to enhance audit and compliance solutions. Collaborate with cross-functional teams to translate business needs into scalable technical solutions.
2. Cloud & Infrastructure Architecture: Architect and optimize solutions leveraging AWS services such as Lambda, ECS, Fargate, EC2, S3, DynamoDB, RDS, and security components. Champion Infrastructure-as-Code practices with Terraform, AWS CDK, and CloudFormation, ensuring high availability and cost efficiency.
3. Software & Application Architecture: Define best practices for microservices, containerization, and API design, guiding modernization of legacy systems and integrating AI/ML automation to improve audit and compliance processes.
4. Security, Compliance & Governance: Ensure adherence to standards like SOC 2, ISO 27001, GDPR, and implement security best practices including zero-trust architecture and role-based access control.
5. Technical Leadership & Mentorship: Lead and mentor solution architects and engineers, evaluate emerging technologies, and serve as a strategic advisor to leadership, partners, and clients.

What you will bring:

• 15+ years in software architecture, engineering leadership, or cloud solutions design
• 10+ years in designing and implementing cloud-native applications on AWS
• Deep expertise in multi-tenant SaaS architecture and distributed systems
• Strong background in microservices, API design, GraphQL, gRPC, and RESTful services
• Proficiency in Python, Java, TypeScript, or Go for cloud-native application development
• Experience with CI/CD pipelines (GitHub Actions, AWS CodePipeline, Jenkins, ArgoCD)
• Strong knowledge of serverless, Kubernetes (EKS), and containerization best practices
• Familiarity with AI/ML integration in financial/auditing applications is a plus
• Proven ability to lead architecture teams, mentor engineers, and drive technical excellence
• Strong communication skills for collaborating with C-suite executives, stakeholders, and clients
• Problem-solving mindset with the ability to balance business goals with technical feasibility
• Passion for staying ahead in cloud technology, security, and compliance trends
