We are seeking a highly motivated and visionary Chief Architect to join our Technology Team at Caseware, a leading SaaS organization. As the Chief Architect, you will play a critical role in shaping our architecture and AI integration strategy, implementing cloud-native solutions for our AWS-powered SaaS platform.

You will collaborate closely with the CTO, Engineering, DevOps, Product, and Security teams to design scalable, secure, and high-performance products that transform the audit industry. Your expertise in AI/ML, multi-tenant SaaS, microservices, and cloud security will be instrumental in driving our technological innovation forward.

This is a full-time permanent position

Location: This role offers flexibility as a hybrid (3 days in our Toronto office at 351 King St E, Suite 1100, Toronto, ON) or fully remote for candidates residing and eligible to work in Canada.

Responsibilities include:

  1. Strategic Architecture Leadership: Define and execute a cloud-native, AI-driven architecture strategy aligned with business goals. Promote AWS best practices for scalability, reliability, and security. Lead the integration of ML, NLP, LLM, Agentic AI, and automation to enhance audit and compliance solutions. Collaborate with cross-functional teams to implement effective technical solutions.
  2. Cloud & Infrastructure Architecture: Architect solutions leveraging AWS services like Lambda, ECS, Fargate, EC2, S3, EFS, Glacier, DocumentDB, DynamoDB, RDS, Redshift, VPC, WAF, Shield, IAM, KMS, SNS, SQS, EventBridge, Step Functions, and observability tools like CloudWatch, X-Ray, New Relic, OpenTelemetry. Advocate for Infrastructure-as-Code practices with Terraform, AWS CDK, and CloudFormation, ensuring high availability, disaster recovery, and cost efficiency.
  3. Software & Application Architecture: Establish best practices for microservices, containerization with Docker and Kubernetes, API-first design, and architectural patterns such as DDD, event-driven, and CQRS. Modernize legacy systems into cloud-native architectures, integrating AI/ML automation for audit and compliance enhancements.
  4. Security, Compliance & Governance: Ensure compliance with SOC 2, ISO 27001, GDPR, and other standards. Implement zero-trust security, RBAC, and secure development practices. Guide adoption of AWS Well-Architected Framework principles to enhance system security and reliability.
  5. Technical Leadership & Mentorship: Lead and mentor solution architects and senior engineers, fostering innovation and collaboration. Evaluate emerging technologies like AWS advancements, AI/ML, and blockchain. Serve as a strategic advisor to leadership, partners, and clients.

Qualifications include:

  1. 15+ years in software architecture, engineering leadership, or cloud solutions design.
  2. 10+ years designing and implementing cloud-native applications on AWS.
  3. Deep expertise in multi-tenant SaaS and distributed systems.
  4. Strong background in microservices, API design, GraphQL, gRPC, RESTful services.
  5. Proficiency in Python, Java, TypeScript, or Go.
  6. Experience with CI/CD pipelines like GitHub Actions, AWS CodePipeline, Jenkins, ArgoCD.
  7. Knowledge of serverless, Kubernetes (EKS), and containerization best practices.
  8. Experience with AI/ML in financial/auditing applications is a plus.
  9. Proven leadership in architecture teams, mentoring, and driving technical excellence.
  10. Excellent communication skills for collaboration with executives, stakeholders, and clients.
  11. Problem-solving mindset balancing business goals and technical feasibility.
  12. Passion for staying current with cloud technology, security, and compliance trends.
