Job summary

The National Bank of Canada is seeking a Chief Advisor in the Strategy and Corporate Development team. Based in Montreal, this senior role leads M&A analysis, strategic partnerships, and financial reviews to support the bank's positioning and growth.

You will coordinate cross-functional teams, engage external advisors, and drive development and execution of strategic initiatives, including growth opportunities, divestment and alliances, with a focus on rigorous analysis and negotiation.

Qualifications

  • Industry-related bachelor's degree and 12 years of relevant experience or industry-related master's degree and 10 years of relevant experience
  • CPA designation or Financial Analyst (CFA) designation
  • Experience in team management in matrix mode
  • Experience in business strategy and corporate development
  • Experience in valuation, business acquisition and due diligence
  • Ability to work under pressure and meet demanding deadlines
  • Excellent listening, communication, influencing and writing skills
  • Knowledge of the Canadian financial industry and its products and services

Your team

Within the Strategy and corporate development group, you will be part of a team of 5 colleagues and report directly to the VP, Corporate development strategy. The team's mission is to be a centre of expertise for environmental strategic monitoring, advice on the development of corporate strategy and the evaluation of investments or strategic partnerships. Monitoring and identifying business opportunities in line with strategic objectives are also part of our mandate.

Prerequisite
  • Industry-related bachelor's degree and 12 years of relevant experience or industry-related master's degree and 10 years of relevant experience
  • CPA (CMA, CGA, CA) or Financial Analyst (CFA) designation
  • Experience in team management in matrix mode
  • Experience in business strategy and corporate development
  • Experience in valuation, business acquisition and due diligence
  • Ability to work under pressure and meet demanding deadlines
  • Excellent listening, communication, influencing and writing skills
  • Knowledge of the Canadian financial industry and its various products and services

Languages: French, English
