Job summary

Groupe SM Tardif inc. is seeking a Chief Accountant to oversee monthly financial reporting and contribute to process improvements. This technical specialist role serves as the team’s resource with no supervisory duties.

Strong attention to detail and the ability to navigate a multi-company environment are essential. Requirements include a accounting degree (DEC or Bachelor), 5+ years in general accounting, experience in manufacturing/construction, and advanced Excel skills.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree or DEC in Accounting.
• At least five years of experience in general accounting, including month-end closing and financial statements.
• Experience with financial consolidation or multi-company environments.
• Experience in manufacturing, construction or industrial sectors is essential.
• Advanced Excel skills (PivotTables, XLOOKUP or INDEX-MATCH) and reconciliation models.
• CPA designation is an asset, not required.

Responsibilities

• Lead the month-end close process from start to finish and meet deadlines.
• Prepare monthly financial statements and perform reconciliations, balance sheets and variance analysis.
• Consolidate results for the Group’s various companies and manage intercompany transactions.
• Optimize accounting processes to automate and improve reliability.
• Analyze general ledger accounts and monitor fixed assets and cash flow.
• Prepare the year-end file for auditors and support the Finance team with ad hoc analyses and budgeting.
