POSITION DESCRIPTION:

Reporting to the Controller, the Chief Accountant will be responsible for supervising a team of accountants. He or she will be responsible for ensuring the accuracy of financial reports and ensuring their timely delivery. They will also act as a liaison with the regional managers in their region, maintaining effective communication between accounting and operations.

The incumbent must be organized and have proven multitasking, problem-solving, and workload prioritization skills. They will be required to analyze multiple files simultaneously, consistently delivering the same high-quality interpretation and reporting, while meeting tight deadlines. The incumbent will be responsible for the reliability and accuracy of all accounting information for each property under their management.


ROLE AND GENERAL RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Assign, monitor and supervise the accounting team in all bookkeeping or general accounting activities
  • Collect the financial information necessary for sound management
  • Coordinate the month-end process to ensure monthly deadlines are met
  • Ensure compliance with internal controls in order to maintain a high level of reliability and compliance, in accordance with applicable tax laws and regulations
  • Maintain excellent business relationships with stakeholders
  • Review, analyze and approve the monthly financial statements of the shopping centers under his management (review of balance sheet items and variance analysis of results)
  • Support team members and work with all other departments
  • Take charge of recruiting accountants for your team
EXPERIENCE AND QUALIFICATIONS:
  • Bachelor's degree in accounting
  • Minimum of 3 years in accounting (experience in staff supervision, an asset)
  • Bilingual (French/English)
  • Knowledge of Hopem software (an asset)
  • Advanced knowledge of Excel
