Job description

Chemistry Subject Matter Expert (AI Training)

We're looking for chemistry experts to help train and evaluate cutting-edge AI models being developed by the world's leading research labs. Your scientific knowledge will directly shape how AI understands and reasons through complex chemistry — from undergraduate fundamentals to advanced graduate-level topics.

This is a unique opportunity to contribute to the frontier of AI development using skills you've already built — no prior AI experience needed.

About The Role
  • Organization: Alignerr
  • Type: Hourly Contract
  • Location: Remote

What You'll Do
  • Design challenging, nuanced chemistry problems to rigorously test AI performance across domains such as chemical engineering, biochemistry, organic chemistry, and more
  • Develop clear, methodical solutions with step-by-step reasoning that serve as gold-standard references
  • Evaluate AI-generated responses for scientific accuracy, logical coherence, and depth of reasoning
  • Collaborate with researchers to build and refine benchmarks spanning undergraduate through Master's-level chemistry
  • Provide structured, actionable feedback that directly improves AI model quality
Who You Are
  • Currently pursuing or have completed a Master's degree in Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, Biochemistry, or a closely related field
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills across advanced chemistry domains
  • Able to communicate complex scientific concepts clearly and precisely in writing
  • Detail-oriented with a commitment to rigor and accuracy
  • Self-motivated and comfortable working independently on an asynchronous schedule
  • No prior AI experience required
Nice to Have
  • Experience with data annotation, data quality assessment, or evaluation systems
  • Familiarity with AI language models or scientific benchmarking
  • Background spanning multiple chemistry subdisciplines
Why Join Us
