Job summary

Veolia is seeking a Chemical Operator in Edmonton to monitor and control chemical processes, perform quality checks, and ensure safety/regulatory compliance. You will follow SOPs, maintain clean facilities, and support packaging operations while coordinating with technical staff.

Ideal candidates have a high school diploma, familiarity with chemical handling, and strong English communication. Training on forklift operation may be provided as needed.

  • Experience with large volumes of chemicals is desirable.
  • Familiarity with ISO 9001 manufacturing environments.
  • Mechanical skills are an asset.
  • Strong written and verbal English communication skills.
  • Computer proficiency.
  • Forklift license is an asset or willingness to be trained.

Responsibilities

  • Support and follow all Environmental, Health, and Safety programs, policies, and regulatory requirements
  • Housekeeping duties throughout site
  • Daily, weekly, monthly inspections - forklifts, lab, EHS
  • Wash, inspect, and label reusable totes for daily and weekly use
  • Label and prepare all types of one-way packaging
  • Load bulk trucks with finished product as well as unload trucks of bulk raw material into storage tanks
  • Read batch recipes and follow instructions so that batches are made to the required quality standard with all the correct materials
  • Stage and prepare ingredients for blends as needed for production
  • Deliver chemicals into blend tanks in predetermined quantities using automated systems as well some semi-automated /manual systems
  • Complete lab testing to ensure products are formulated to meet quality standards
  • Complete all batch documentation accurately and in a timely manner so as to ensure raw material inventory is properly accounted for
  • Consult with technical and supervisory personnel to report or resolve conditions affecting safety, efficiency, and product quality.
  • Report, help troubleshoot and assist maintenance as required
  • Handle other duties as assigned.

Job Description

POSITION SUMMARY


As a Chemical Operator, you will play a crucial role in the safe and efficient operation of our chemical manufacturing processes. You will be responsible for monitoring and controlling equipment, performing quality checks, and ensuring compliance with safety and environmental regulations. Your attention to detail and adherence to standard operating procedures will contribute to the production of high-quality chemicals.


Main Responsibilities:



  • Support and follow all Environmental, Health, and Safety programs, policies, and regulatory requirements


  • Housekeeping duties throughout site


  • Daily, weekly, monthly inspections - forklifts, lab, EHS

Qualifications

  • Forklift license as an asset, or willing to be trained on forklift.




Physical Requirements



  • Must be able to lift up to 50lbs




  • Ability to wear Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) (Safety Boots, Safety Clothing, Safety Helmet, Safety Goggle/Glasses, Respirator, Gloves)
