We are currently hiring a Chef to join our dynamic kitchen team. The ideal candidate will have a solid culinary background, strong leadership skills, and experience in restaurant or catering environments. The Chef is responsible for overseeing daily food preparation and production, ensuring consistency, quality, and adherence to airline specifications.

Responsibilities

  • Demonstrate a complete understanding of the required menus.
  • Prepare meats, fishes, pastas, side dishes, and garnishes following recipes carefully.
  • Roast, fry, steam, grill, bake meats, fishes, vegetables as required by recipes.
  • Prepare food by cleaning, peeling, mincing, cutting, chopping, mixing, portioning, measuring ingredients, packaging, and labeling.
  • Maintain proper food production records, ensure all equipment is operable.
  • Responsible for sanitation and post-service set-up.
  • Notify manager of any maintenance repairs needed or unsafe conditions.
  • Taste and smell prepared food to determine quality and palatability.
  • Monitor temperature of hot and cold foods during preparation and service to meet temperature goals.
  • Study recipes assigned by the Executive Chef, prepare and coordinate all meals.
  • Coordinate prep for the following day’s menus.
  • Supervise cooks and prep workers, manage the prep list to plan duties.
  • Ensure standard of recipes to maintain consistent quality.
  • Plan, modify, and develop menus based on airline requirements.
  • Conduct pre-meal meetings with food directors and team members to review menu details and production plans.
  • Assist in coordinating and executing special menus for client presentations.
  • Ensure all kitchen equipment is in working order and kept clean at all times.
  • Wear food safety equipment while on duty and practice safety protocols.
  • Maintain good portion control and forecast production needs.
  • Practice proper grooming, personal hygiene, and safety equipment use.
  • Ensure staff properly store products and keep cooling areas ready.
  • Communicate effectively with kitchen personnel and other departments.
  • Comply with all company service standards, health & safety procedures, food safety requirements.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
  • Mandatory prior experience in a restaurant or catering business.
  • Experience with Halal, Middle Eastern, Indian Cuisine is a strong asset.
  • Ability to stand for long periods.
  • Proficiency in reading, writing, and speaking English.
  • Knowledge of HACCP is an asset (training provided if needed).
  • Ability to handle pressure in a fast-paced environment.
  • Ability to work on weekends.
  • Attendance, diligence, punctuality, and reliability.
