As a Chef Manager, you will plan, guide, and execute contracted services at the Client site. You will work as part of a management team in food and nutrition services, performing tasks such as training, coaching, and administrative duties for employees.
Job Responsibilities
- Supervise the kitchen team to ensure all follow standards and procedures, taking responsibility for all kitchen operations as the Chef Manager.
- Complete weekly safety observations of food service staff to ensure a safe work environment and adherence to safety protocols.
- Assist in kitchen duties, including food preparation when needed.
- Ensure all logs (HACCP, sanitizer, dish machine temperature, waste, etc.) are completed accurately.
- Conduct daily audits of cleanliness in food service areas according to SOPs.
- Manage monthly inventory and update records in accounting software regularly.
- Enter staff schedules into Kronos one week in advance.
- Lead department and client meetings, such as Food Forum, as assigned.
- Assist with marketing open houses and complete ordering for suppliers like Sysco, Agropur, Weston, and Centennial as needed.
- Enter invoices into accounting software daily as required.
- Ensure staff follow proper food handling procedures, including maintaining food within safe temperature zones.
- Collaborate with the Dietician to update weekly diet sheets and communicate changes to foodservice staff.
- Assist with menu development.
- Maintain a polite, service-oriented attitude towards customers and co-workers, fostering a friendly and responsive environment.
- Perform all work in accordance with Client, Aramark, and regulatory safety procedures, including WHMIS, OH&S, and audits.
- Act as interim manager during the Operations Manager's absence and complete all assigned duties.
Qualifications
- Minimum 2-year College Diploma in Management, Hotel/Restaurant, or Dietetics; professional certification or degree is a plus.
- Food Safe Certification is an asset. Cooking certification is not required but advantageous.
- 2 to 3 years of management or supervision experience in a healthcare environment.
- Proficiency in Word, Office, and Excel.
- Strong interpersonal, analytical, and decision-making skills.
This role may involve physical demands such as lifting, bending, pushing, pulling, and extended periods of walking or standing. Uniforms and PPE may be required.
