Job summary

Newrest seeks a chef to oversee the strategic management of the store in alignment with the company’s policies and vision, collaborating closely with the Supply and Production Manager.

Your main missions include preparing meats, fishes, pastas, sides, and garnishes, following recipes, and ensuring all dishes meet quality standards. You will maintain sanitation, monitor temperatures, coordinate daily menus, and support teamwork across the kitchen.

Responsibilities

  • Have the ability to demonstrate a complete understanding of the required menus
  • Prepare meats, fishes, pastas, side dishes and garnishes following recipes carefully
  • Roast, fry, steam, grill, bake meats, fishes, vegetables as required by recipes
  • Prepares food by cleaning, peeling, mincing, cutting, chopping, mixing portioning, measuring ingredients, packaging and labelling
  • Maintain proper food production records, ensure all equipment is operable
  • Responsible for sanitation and post-service setup
  • Notify manager of any maintenance repairs needed or unsafe conditions
  • Taste and smell prepared food to determine quality and palatability
  • Monitor temperature of hot and cold foods through food preparation and service to ensure that established temperature goals are met prior to steam table transfer and maintained throughout meal service
  • Studies recipes assigned by the Executive Chef, prepares and coordinates all meals
  • Coordinates preparation for the following day’s menus
  • Manage the prep list to plan duties
  • Ensures standard of recipes to maintain consistent quality
  • Assists in the coordination and execution of special menus for client presentations
  • Ensure all kitchen equipment is in working order and kept clean at all times
  • Wear food safety equipment while on duty, use work safety equipment while on duty
  • Maintain good portion control and forecast of production
  • Practice proper grooming, personal hygiene, and use safety equipment
  • Communicate effectively with kitchen personnel & other unit departments
  • Compliance with all company service standards, health & safety procedures, food safety requirements
  • Perform other duties as assigned
