Position Overview: The Category Manager, reporting to the Director of Marketing, will support the development and implementation of category strategies to drive sales and profit growth, aligned with the organization's objectives. This role involves managing category plans, analyzing market data, negotiating with suppliers, and collaborating across departments to optimize category performance.

Responsibilities include:

  • Negotiating regional business agreements with suppliers and managing promotional plans.
  • Analyzing weekly sales reports and taking actions to enhance category performance.
  • Developing and monitoring category strategies covering product mix, pricing, promotions, and branding.
  • Updating category planograms to meet growth targets.
  • Creating marketing strategies for flyers and catalogs.
  • Ensuring profitability and margin optimization across wholesale and retail channels.
  • Managing category budgets and retail pricing strategies.
  • Staying informed of market trends and competitive activities to identify new opportunities.
  • Providing expertise and support to stores and internal teams.
  • Coordinating with departments to ensure product alignment and pricing consistency.
  • Preparing monthly business updates for senior management.
  • Analyzing market data to inform strategic decisions.
  • Negotiating supplier participation in sales events.
  • Communicating operational and strategic updates to stores.
  • Responding promptly to stakeholder requests and resolving issues.
  • Performing additional tasks as assigned.

Qualifications:

  • College or university degree in a relevant discipline.
  • Significant experience in category analysis and management.
  • Strong business acumen and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent communication skills in French and English.
  • Proficiency with Word, PowerPoint, Excel, and PowerBi.
  • Strong organizational and strategic planning skills.
  • Ability to collaborate effectively with internal stakeholders and management.

Work Environment: The role requires supporting the marketing director and working with the category management team to develop strategies that promote growth. The position demands attention to detail, multitasking, and maintaining confidentiality. Proficiency in English is required for supporting clients outside Quebec and in the U.S.

We offer a competitive total rewards package, including base salary, bonuses, and benefits. The pay range for this position is $77,600 - $129,400, aligned with our pay philosophy and regulatory standards. For more information on benefits, click here.
