What you will be doing
Responsibilities
- Review project contractual documents to understand the project requirements (time frame, budget, safety, quality, staffing, materials and equipment requirements) necessary to complete the project within the required time frame.
- Develop an execution plan that outlines staffing, materials, equipment, subcontracting, and other services needed to deliver the project on time and within budget.
- Coordinate with department managers to establish work plans and staffing for the segment of the project.
- Liaise with the technical department and/or designer on all technical aspects related to bridge construction.
- Coordinate and develop a construction execution plan for a segment (deck and stay cables) of the bridge, outlining staffing, materials, equipment, subcontracting, and other services necessary for timely and budget-compliant delivery.
- Lead project activities to ensure execution according to designs, budgets, and schedules; take appropriate actions to minimize deviations.
- Develop and manage client relationships, expectations, progress reports, communication, administrative tasks, and meetings.
- Monitor and supervise the efficient use of materials and equipment, and the contractual performance of the project; ensure team members perform their responsibilities as expected.
- Oversee onsite activities, quality, productivity, progress, and safety of employees and subcontractors.
- Manage financial aspects of contracts.
- Provide technical assistance and recommend construction methods and equipment.
- Anticipate potential obstacles and develop solutions to prevent issues; resolve problems during project execution.
- Implement and monitor safety programs.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering or relevant discipline.
- Minimum 10 to 15 years of experience with a major contractor on large heavy civil projects.
- Experience with cable stay bridge projects and installation of related systems.
- Experience with tower construction methodologies, such as climbing, self-climbing, and slip formwork.
- Experience with composite deck structures and fabrication of pre-cast segments.
- Experience in heavy lifting operations and coordinating diverse teams, including operation of specialized equipment.
- Proven knowledge in project accounting, controls, materials management, contracts, safety, and quality management.
- Successful track record of completing projects on schedule and within budget.
- Ability to understand and interpret contract law and language.
- Proficiency with Excel, MS Projects, Word, PowerPoint, AutoCAD, Bluejean, and Timesheet tools.
- Fluent in both French and English, oral and written.
- Excellent technical, communication, organizational, leadership, and planning skills.
