Qualifications

  • Hourly par rate of $30.43 to $34.78

What you will be doing :

  1. Lead a shift, station, or area of the kitchen, supervising a team of culinary professionals.
  2. Prepare and service all food items for a la carte and buffet menus according to hotel recipes and standards.
  3. In conjunction with the Executive Chef and Sous Chefs, proactively prioritize, delegate, and assign duties to team members to ensure high-quality service and food.
  4. Lead by example, ensuring food quality, consistency, and quantity meet expectations.
  5. Maintain a neat, clean, and organized kitchen environment, following all food safety protocols.
  6. Manage food costs by controlling waste, proper ordering, storage, and preparation.
  7. Ensure productivity and labor costs are managed effectively.
  8. Possess a thorough understanding of the menu, recipes, and potential food allergens.
  9. Perform quality checks of all food prepared under supervision.
  10. Train other cooks in all aspects of culinary operations.
  11. Contribute ideas to menu development and assist with recipe creation and documentation.
  12. Coordinate with other departments to ensure smooth operations.
  13. Participate in performance reviews, providing input and feedback.
  14. Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

Your experience and skills include :

  • A minimum of 6 years recent experience in a luxury hotel or restaurant kitchen, including 3 years as a certified Journeyperson in a 1st cook or similar role.
  • Interprovincial Red Seal or international equivalent.
  • Current Food Safe Level 1 or equivalent certification.
  • Proven culinary skills assessed through practical and written tests.
  • Willing to taste all types of food products.
  • Fluent in English, both written and verbal.
  • Proven leadership, communication, and team-building skills.
  • Excellent organizational skills and initiative.
  • Ability to prioritize and make sound decisions.
  • High responsibility and accountability.
  • Commitment to excellent guest service.
  • High School diploma or equivalent is desirable.
  • GHS / WHMIS training is an asset.
  • Computer skills including Word, Excel, and email.
  • Ability to work flexible shifts, including evenings, weekends, and holidays.
  • Impeccable grooming and presentation.

Additional Information

Physical demands include constant standing and walking, lifting up to 50 lbs, and working in hot and cold environments.

Visa Requirements : Must be legally eligible to work in Canada. The hotel cannot assist with work authorization.
