We are currently seeking candidates for a 12-month replacement position, with the possibility of extension, as Chef d'Unité at CHSLD Jean-Hubert-Biermans, within the Long-Term Care Housing Directorate.

Summary of Responsibilities

Reporting to the Housing Coordinator, the person in this role acts as an intermediate manager in a context of transformation and continuous improvement, aligned with ministerial directives, organizational practices, accreditation standards, and the life environment program.

The unit manager oversees housing services, manages an interdisciplinary team, and may manage units with specific characteristics (prosthetic units, micro-environments, units with severe behavioral issues). They ensure the harmonization and integration of best practices within the housing unit, exercising motivating and transformational leadership to provide optimal care to residents.

The CHSLD Jean-Hubert-Biermans is a 203-bed facility spread over 3 floors.

Specifically, the role involves:

  1. Collaborating with internal and external partners to develop the living environment and provide palliative and end-of-life care;
  2. Ensuring the delivery of care and services considering residents' and their families' concerns;
  3. Planning, coordinating, and controlling activities related to human, financial, material, and informational resources;
  4. Improving processes and identifying strategies to optimize resources;
  5. Ensuring the harmonization and integration of best practices within the housing unit;
  6. Exercising motivating and transformational leadership to provide the best care possible.

Qualifications include:

  • A bachelor's degree in nursing;
  • Significant professional experience in a management position related to the activities;
  • Experience in coordinating reorganizational projects and significant changes;
  • Membership in the OIIQ.
