Job Overview

Tasty Indian Bistro is a Canadian Indian restaurant located at 1261 Hamilton Street in Vancouver, British Columbia. We are hiring an experienced Chef to oversee all aspects of kitchen operations, including cooking, production, inventory, quality control, sanitation, and team leadership.

Title: Chef

Position: Immediate opportunity | Status: Full-time, 35 hours/week, Permanent | Salary: $37 per hour

Responsibilities
  • Lead and direct the culinary team to ensure smooth operations, efficient flow of food production, premium presentation, and timely high-quality service to all outlets.
  • Ensure all kitchen areas practice safe food handling, sanitation, and storage procedures.
  • Manage daily kitchen operations, including food ordering.
  • Design new restaurant menus.
  • Maintain consistency in taste and presentation of all food items.
  • Monitor and manage quality and quantity control of food production and minimize wastage to optimize food cost.
  • Monitor work hours, scheduling, and vacation planning for kitchen staff.
  • Participate in recruitment, training, and performance management of kitchen associates.
  • Maintain a safe working environment in all kitchen sections.
  • Prepare dishes for customers with food allergies and intolerances.
Qualifications
  • Completion of high school education.
  • Minimum of 2 years of commercial food preparation experience.
  • Leadership skills and ability to direct and supervise staff.
