Job summary

DBM Vircon, a premier construction modeling, detailing, and digital engineering company, seeks a Checker to join our Vancouver-based team. You will verify drawings, models, and related information to identify drafting discrepancies and ensure accuracy and compliance.

With extensive experience in steel detailing and construction modeling, you will collaborate with project managers and modelers to deliver projects on schedule and to high standards.

Qualifications

• Minimum of 10 years of relevant experience in detailing and construction modeling.
• Experience with steel detailing and a strong understanding of construction drawings, models, and related documentation.
• Proven experience in performing checks on models and drawings and ensuring compliance with design specifications and industry standards.
• Experience working collaboratively with project teams to ensure projects are completed accurately and on schedule.
• Experience with bridge projects is considered an asset.

Responsibilities

• Checking all details in models and drawings per relevant design information, drawings, procedures, specifications, standards, and regulations.
• Performing back-checks on final drawings against original check prints to ensure accuracy and compliance.
• Reviewing RFIs and Connection Design Questions to ensure proper incorporation into the model.
• Ensuring adherence to relevant country and project standards, while following DBM Vircon’s drafting procedures.
• Collaborating closely with project managers, coordinators, and construction modelers to ensure the smooth and timely delivery of projects.
• Providing guidance and technical advice to modelers to improve their skills and proficiency.
• Approving and signing off on final models, drawings, checklists, CNC data, Bolt lists, and drawing packs.

DBM Vircon’s Detailing team is growing, and we are currently recruiting for a Checker to join our Vancouver-based team. You will be responsible for checking drawings, models, and related information to identify drafting discrepancies for correction.

Key Responsibilities:

Your main responsibilities will include, but not be limited to:

• Checking all details in models and drawings per relevant design information, drawings, procedures, specifications, standards, and regulations.
• Performing back-checks on final drawings against original check prints to ensure accuracy and compliance.
• Reviewing Request for Information (RFI) and Connection Design Questions to ensure proper incorporation into the model.
• Ensuring adherence to relevant country and project standards, while following DBM Vircon’s drafting procedures.
• Collaborating closely with project managers, coordinators, and construction modelers to ensure the smooth and timely delivery of projects.
• Providing guidance and technical advice to modelers to improve their skills and proficiency.
• Approving and signing off on final models, drawings, checklists, CNC data, Bolt lists, and drawing packs.

Work Experience

• Minimum of 10 years of relevant experience in the detailing and construction modeling industry, including experience as a modeler.
• Experience with steel detailing and a strong understanding of construction drawings, models, and related documentation.
• Proven experience in performing checks on models and drawings and ensuring compliance with design specifications and industry standards.
• Experience working collaboratively with project teams to ensure projects are completed accurately and on schedule.
• Experience with bridge projects is considered an asset.

Education/Training

• Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited college or university or the completion of a steel detailing course, or equivalent education/training in a relevant technical field.
• Extensive industry experience combined with training certification in the field of steel fabrication, steel detailing or construction.
• A combination of work experience and relevant education will be considered.

Software & Technology

• Proficiency in relevant CAD software, such as Tekla, AutoCAD, ProSteel, StruCAD, Revit, and AutoPLANT.
• Experience with Navisworks for clash detection and coordination.
• Experience using proprietary applications such as JMS (or similar industry tools).
• Familiarity with Microsoft Office Suite, including Outlook, Word, and Excel.
• Ability to learn new software and tools relevant to the role quickly.

Salary Range

The expected base salary for this position ranges from $75,000 to $95,000 CAD per annum. The final base salary will be determined based on factors such as the applicant's education, skills, competencies, and unique qualifications.
