Job description

POSITION SUMMARY: Under the supervision of the Facility Operator, assists the public to ensure that they have a safe and enjoyable aquatic experience.

MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Be familiar with emergency procedures of the pool and related equipment.
  • Assists lifeguards and instructors with their duties when necessary.
  • Enforces pool rules and regulations.
  • Responds to public inquiries of complaints or refers to appropriate staff for follow-up.
  • Answers telephone and takes necessary messages in a courteous manner.
  • Administers pool chemistry tests and records results; advises if corrective action is necessary.
  • Greets public in a courteous manner; accepts payment and/or checks their belongings.
  • Performs such other related duties as may be assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS:

Education/Experience:

  • Must possess a current RLSSC Bronze Cross, RLSSC Aquatic Emergency Care or Standard First Aid, CPR Level C.

CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT:

  • Must undergo a successful Police Vulnerable Sector Check (PVSC).
  • Must be customer-service oriented and able to get along with other members of the staff team.
  • Must demonstrate initiative and show a positive attitude.
  • Must attend and complete within three months of employment, customer service training and WHMIS training.
  • Must follow safe work practices. Will be required to work irregular hours and weekends.

TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT:

  • Part-time (Not to exceed 24 hours per week).
  • Will be required to work irregular hours and weekends.
