This is a union-represented salaried position.

The Dynamometer Test Technician works full-time at the Michigan Proving Grounds (MPG) in Romeo. Responsibilities include instrumenting and de-instrumenting vehicles for dyno testing, installing vehicles onto the dyno, connecting instrumentation, and operating the dyno control system during tests. The position follows a 12-hour, 7-day crew night shift pattern.

Qualifications

Required:

  • High School Diploma or equivalent
  • Two years’ experience in automotive engine and driveline systems
  • Ability to obtain a Tier II driver rating

Preferred:

  • Associate’s degree
  • Two years’ experience in dynamometer testing
  • Proficiency with ELMS and DURIS
  • Strong organizational and problem-solving skills
  • Ability to learn new software systems

  • Installing vehicles onto test stands, setting parameters, and operating controls
  • Monitoring vehicle tests, reporting issues, and derigging after testing
  • Reviewing paperwork, updating ELMS statuses, and coordinating with the VLC group
  • Maintaining documentation, printing test data, and ensuring safety procedures
