We are currently seeking an experienced Chartered Professional Accountant (CPA) to join the Lifeline team.
Term: Full-Time, Permanent, in-person, Monday to Friday
Key Responsibilities
- Report directly to the Vice-President of Operations and President
- Responsible for accounting and financial records, ensuring accuracy and compliance with established accounting standards and procedures
- Plan, organize and administer accounting systems
- Develop and maintain cost finding, reporting and internal control procedures
- Examine and analyze journal and ledger entries, bank statements, inventories, expenditures, tax returns and other accounting and financial records, documents and systems within the organization to ensure financial recording accuracy and compliance with established accounting standards, procedures and internal controls
- Oversee accounting systems and prepare financial information
- Prepare detailed reports on audit findings and make recommendations to improve accounting and management practices
- Analyze financial statements and reports, and provide financial, business and tax advice
- Conduct field audits to ensure compliance with provisions of the Income Tax Act, Canadian Business Corporations Act or other statutory requirements
- Supervise and oversee audits and the activities of the Accounting and Payroll team
Qualifications, Knowledge, and Skills
- Diploma or degree in Finance, Accounting and/or a related field is preferred
- Chartered Professional Accountant (CPA) designation is a prerequisite
- Minimum of two (2) to five (5) years of experience in a similar role is preferred
- Knowledge of payroll processing and employment regulation is required
- Experience working in the fire protection services industry is an asset
- Excellent interpersonal skills, results-oriented, analytical thinking
- Ability to multitask and prioritize competing demands
- Ability to work independently and in a team
- Proficiency in QuickBooks Online (QBO), QuickBooks Workforce, Microsoft Office Suite including Excel, and Google Workspace is required
- Excellent proficiency in English is required
- Valid driver's license and access to reliable vehicle for work is an asset
