FP Chartered Professional Accountants LLP is looking for a client-focused, detail-oriented CPA to join our team in supporting local businesses. While our office is based in Winkler, Manitoba, the majority of our team works remotely, and we are open to candidates based throughout the province. This role offers flexibility, autonomy, and the opportunity to build meaningful relationships with our clients.

Founded by two experienced CPAs, we specialize in supporting small and medium-sized businesses—particularly in agriculture and veterinary sectors. With a focus on ethical, proactive service and sustainable practices, we empower clients to make confident financial decisions through tailored advice, strong reporting frameworks, and innovative technology.

About the Role

As a CPA on our team, you’ll primarily work with clients in the Agriculture, Trade, and eCommerce sectors, providing a blend of traditional accounting services and modern advisory support. In addition to overseeing compliance and tax-related work, you’ll contribute to fractional Controller and CFO serviceswhile helping clients leverage financial technology, automation, and process optimization. This role is ideal for a CPA who values variety, strategic thinking, and the opportunity to thrive in a tech-forward, client-focused environment.

Key Responsibilities

  • Detailed review of compilation and review engagements, corporate tax returns, and personal tax returns of our business clients (note: we do not perform audits or non-business-related personal tax returns)
  • Provide year-round financial guidance and tax planning support
  • Deliver Controller-level services to clients, including bookkeeping review and support, KPI tracking and analysis, and financial protocol creation
  • Deliver CFO-level services to clients, including budget creation and analysis, financial forecasting, and researching and implementing financial technology
  • Contribute to system and workflow improvements using accounting technology and integrations
  • Build trusted, long-term advisory relationships with clients and clinic owners.• Stay informed of accounting standards, tax legislation, and the latest financial technology
  • Support clients with payroll, compliance filings, and identify opportunities for operational or tax efficiencies.

What you bring

  • CPA designation in good standing
  • Minimum 3 years of experience in public practice, ideally with small business clients
  • Experience in industry or a small business setting is an asset.
  • Strong understanding of Canadian tax and accounting standards for private corporations
  • Excellent communication skills and a collaborative, client-focused approach
  • Strong organizational and time-management skills with the ability to work independently
  • Familiarity with cloud-based accounting tools—our firm primarily uses QuickBooks Online,
  • Caseware, Wagepoint, CCH iFirm, and Dext, but expertise in these specific platforms isn’t required
  • A curiosity for technology and a willingness to explore and adopt new digital tools to enhance client financial processes
