Job Summary:

We are seeking Character FX Artists to produce high-quality effects for animated features.

What You’ll Do:

  • Create hair, cloth, and fur simulation setups.
  • Design procedural creature simulation rigs in Houdini following department standards.
  • Collaborate with other departments to create realistic and stylized effects.
  • Participate in training to enhance CFX skills.
  • Work collaboratively with an inclusive and open-minded approach.

What You’ll Need:

  • Experience with Houdini, Maya, or similar tools; Houdini Vellum experience preferred.
  • Understanding of physics-based simulations for hair, cloth, and character effects.
  • Strong sense of timing, weight, and motion.
  • Ability to create realistic and stylized effects.
  • Effective communication skills.
  • Attention to detail and adaptability to different styles.
  • Knowledge of scripting languages like VEX or Python is a plus.
  • A portfolio showcasing character effects work.

This role is based in Vancouver, BC, with a hybrid work model (minimum 3 days in-office).

Salary range for this role is approximately $80k-$160k CAD, based on experience and other factors.
