Job Description:
PURPOSE:
The Chaplain , under the supervision of the Director of Chaplaincy and in collaboration with the Program Coordinator provides spiritual outreach and care to the clients and staff of the Kingston Harbour Light in accordance with The Salvation Army accreditation standards .
WORKING RELATIONSHIPS
Reports to the Director of Chaplaincy
Works collaboratively with the Management staff of Kingston Harbour Light Program to ensure the provision of adequate and appropriate spiritual care to program clients
Attends case conferences, team meetings and staff meetings as requested
RESPONSIBILITIES AND ACTIVITIES
Provide Pastoral Care, moral and spiritual support to clients and staff involved with the above named programs
Plan, schedule and conduct weekly devotional, chapel services, and Bible Studies
Conducts spiritual assessments for all clients admitted to the Residential Treatment program
Make Hospital visits on request to any Client/Resident who may be hospitalized
Source and distribute Christian and other religious literature as requested
Arrange ceremonies, observances and funerals for Clients, with approval from management
Make referrals as requested to churches and faith communities in the Kingston area.
Support special program activities such as Christmas, Easter, etc.
Serve on Committees of the Ministry Unit
Participates in team meetings and case conferences
Maintains accurate case notes regarding the spiritual care of clients in keeping with agency standards
Submits Statistics on a monthly basis

ESSENTIAL SKILLS AND QUALIFICATIONS
Post-secondary education in Pastoral Counseling, Religious Education or Biblical and theological studies
Graduate of Salvation Army College for Officer Training or equivalent Ordination preferred; or training, with a recognized chaplaincy or spiritual care education background
Multifaith and cultural competencies
Languages other than English a strong asset
Experience serving the spiritual needs of a diverse population
Education, training or experience working with the homeless or marginalized population impacted by mental health, trauma and substance use issues
Thorough knowledge of community resources and services
Good interpersonal skills
Fluent in written and spoken English
Certification in First Aid/CPR; Crisis Intervention
Upon hiring, successful candidate must provide:

Compensation:
The target hiring range for this position is $25.11 to $31.39 with a maximum of $37.67.Placement in the salary range will be based on factors such as market conditions, internal equity, and candidate experience, skills, and qualifications relevant to the role.
