Job Description
Reporting to the Dean of Pembroke Campus, the Academic Chair is providing broad academic and instructional leadership to the diverse programs in the Department. The Chair, Health and Community Studies, ensures that the programming meets the needs of students and community partners and adheres to Industry and Ministry guidelines.
The Chair has familiarity with academic and administrative policies and the inter-relationships with college departments. With accountability for the planning, development, quality, delivery, evaluation, and financial management / viability of the Department's activities, the incumbent ensures the effective use of current pedagogical and financial practices. The incumbent will be responsible for working closely with the other departments within the College to lead and support applied research and simulation initiatives.
The incumbent conducts first-level investigations of complaints from students and staff and initiates the problem-solving process. The incumbent establishes positive working relationships with internal employees, students, and external industry and business representatives. The incumbent participates in student recruitment and College marketing efforts.
Required Qualifications
This position requires regular on-site work at Algonquin College’s Pembroke Campus.
