Job summary

The Municipality of Souris-Glenwood is seeking a qualified Certified Utility Operator to support operation, maintenance, monitoring, and repair of municipal water and wastewater facilities and infrastructure.

Join the Public Works / Utilities team to help ensure safe, reliable, and compliant delivery of services. Preference for Manitoba operator certifications and a Class 5 license; on-site work with potential for on-call duties and career training opportunities.

Qualifications

• Candidate must hold Manitoba operator certifications or equivalent, with valid water/wastewater operator credentials.
• Experience in municipal utilities, public works, or related field is preferred.
• Ability to operate, monitor, and maintain water and wastewater facilities and related infrastructure.

Responsibilities

• Operate, monitor, inspect, and maintain water treatment and wastewater facilities.
• Provide certified oversight for water distribution and wastewater collection infrastructure.
• Complete sampling, testing, monitoring, reporting, and record keeping per provincial requirements.
• Respond to utility service calls, alarms, breaks, or other operational issues.
• Participate in on-call rotation and emergency response activities.
• Assist with preventative maintenance, troubleshooting, and capital project work.
• Follow safety procedures and municipal policies; collaborate with staff, regulators, and the public.
