Job summary

Jacques Alexanian Professional Corporation in Ottawa’s east end is seeking a Senior Accountant to join our CPA firm. You will prepare financial statements and tax returns for a range of small and medium-sized businesses and guide a team of staff accountants.

The ideal candidate has extensive experience in private enterprise tax and accounting, strong communication skills, and the ability to manage multiple deadlines with accuracy.

Qualifications

• Experience in a CPA firm is required.
• Experience with QuickBooks and full-cycle accounting software.
• Ability to prioritize workloads and meet deadlines.

Responsibilities

• Prepare financial statements and tax returns for small and medium businesses.
• Prepare corporate and personal tax returns (T1, T2s, T3s, GST/HST/TVQ).
• Conduct compilation and review engagements.
• Communicate with clients, government agencies, management and staff.
• Provide leadership and mentor a team of staff accountants.
• Identify new business opportunities with existing clients.

PAY: CA$65,000.00 - CA$130,000.00 per year

POSITION: Senior accountant in CPA firm

LOCATION: East end Ottawa

SALARY: Based upon experience

ACCOUNTABILITIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

• Preparation of financial statements and tax returns in a variety of small and medium size businesses
• Preparation of corporate and personal tax returns (T1, T2s, T3s, GST/HST/TVQ)
• Compilation and review engagements
• Effective communication with our clients, government agencies, management and staff
• Providing leadership and mentor a team of staff accountants
• Identify new business opportunities with existing clients

REQUIREMENTS:

• Previous experience in a CPA Firm
• Experience with full-cycle computerized programs such as QuickBooks
• Ability to prioritize workloads and the flexibility to manage multiple tasks and deadlines
• Strong organizational skills with great attention to detail and accuracy
• Superior written and verbal communication skills
• Ability to initiate and develop professional relations with clientele
• Must hold a professional accounting designation or worked for a CPA firm for more than 5 years

ASSETS:

• Bilingual in English and French is considered a strong asset
• Minimum of 5 years Canadian of relevant midsize public practice experience related to Private Enterprise
