All candidates must first complete the English CASAS reading assessment and pass with English speaking and reading comprehension at a 9th grade level; the CASAS will be administered through your local Adult Education Center. Updated immunization records are required upon applying.

Program Highlights:

  • FREE tuition through the Maine Community College System
  • Taught by experienced Registered Nurses
  • Small class size with individual support
  • Includes 70 hours of classroom instruction, 20 hours of essential skills labs, and 40 hours of clinical training at the local hospital

MaineHealth, in collaboration with Maine Adult Education programs and the Maine Community College System, offers a FREE 8-week, state-approved CNA training program. CNAs are caregivers who assist patients and residents with activities of daily living, ensuring their safety and comfort.

This position is part-time and temporary, consisting of 26 hours per week, on the day shift.

Summary:
Under supervision of the Certified Nursing Assistant Program Instructor, Clinical Supervisor, Certified Nursing Assistant Preceptors, and/or Charge Nurses, the CNA Apprentice provides direct care to residents/patients.

Minimum Requirements:

  1. High school diploma or GED preferred.
  2. Acceptance into an approved Certified Nursing Assistant Program is required.
  3. Experience: None required.
  4. Additional skills or requirements: Not specified.
