Job summary

Canfor's Grande Prairie Sawmill is seeking a Certified Millwright to maintain mill machinery, including pumps and conveyors, using Red Seal expertise to keep production running smoothly.

You will perform preventative, predictive and reactive maintenance, troubleshoot equipment, order parts, and contribute to a safe work environment in a full-time, permanent role with a rotating two-week day/afternoon/night schedule.

Qualifications

• Must have Red Seal Millwright certification and secondary schooling or equivalent
• Apprenticeship 3–4 years or 5+ years of maintenance experience in heavy industry/manufacturing
• Strong troubleshooting and mechanical aptitude required
• Ability to lift up to 50 lbs and work safely in a team

Responsibilities

• Maintain all mill machinery including pumps, conveyors, compressors, rollers and bearings
• Perform preventative, predictive and reactive maintenance and inspect equipment for irregularities
• Assess when to assemble, move, replace or dismantle machinery and manage time effectively
• Troubleshoot equipment issues and implement safe, reliable repairs
• Identify and request parts to support maintenance and repairs and contribute to a safe work environment

We're seeking a Certified Millwright for our Grande Prairie, AB Sawmill, where you can utilize your Red Seal technical expertise, communication skills, and troubleshooting abilities to keep our modern sawmill operating at peak performance. This role is a full-time, permanent position working a rotating weekday schedule consisting of two weeks of days, two weeks of afternoons, and two weeks of nights (graveyard shift), with a minimum of 40 hours per week.

As a Certified Millwright, your responsibilities will include:

• Working with a high-performance team dedicated to maintaining all mill machinery, including pumps, conveyors, compressors, mechanical systems, rollers and chains, bearings, and pneumatic systems involved in the manufacturing process.
• Keeping our systems running smoothly by performing preventative, predictive, and reactive maintenance, which involves inspecting machinery and equipment to detect and investigate irregularities and malfunctions.
• Effectively managing your time while assessing when to assemble, move, replace, or dismantle machinery.
• Troubleshooting equipment issues and implementing safe, reliable repairs to improve equipment reliability and maintain production.
• Identifying and requesting appropriate parts to support timely maintenance and repairs.
• Assisting in creating a safe work environment for coworkers, contractors, customers, and site visitors.

For this role, we are looking for candidates who:

• Hold a valid Red Seal Industrial Mechanic (Millwright) Certification.
• Have completed secondary school and training courses or a vocational program
• Have completed 3- to 4-year apprenticeship program or a combination of over five years of work experience and industry courses in maintaining and troubleshooting industrial manufacturing equipment or millwrighting
• Have the physical capability to lift objects weighing up to 50 lbs.
• Demonstrate a high degree of urgency and strong problem-solving skills.
• Possess strong communication and teamwork skills.

• Hourly Rate: $50.55 per hour
