Job summary

A prominent health network in Ontario is seeking a Certified ECG Technician for cardiac diagnostics. The successful candidate will perform ECGs, alert medical staff to abnormalities, and contribute to patient care in a team-oriented environment. Ideal applicants will have a graduate background and relevant clinical experience.

Qualifications

  • Clinical and technical experience in electrocardiography and Holter monitoring is essential.
  • 1 Year Clinical experience in a Hospital Setting is preferred.
  • Ability to speak another language is an asset.

Responsibilities

  • Recognize abnormalities and alert nursing staff or physicians.

Job Description

Reporting to the Manager of Cardiac Diagnostics, the ECG Technician will be responsible for performing routine 12 & 15 Lead ECG’s according to established protocols for both in and outpatients. They will be able to recognize abnormalities and alert a nurse or physician to abnormalities. The Technician will also be responsible for Holter Monitor application to both in and outpatients.

Requirements

  • Graduate of a recognized Laboratory Technician Program
  • Current Basic Cardiac Life Support certification
  • Clinical and technical experience in electrocardiography, Holter monitoring, event recorder monitoring, and Blood Pressure Monitoring
  • Excellent interpersonal, communication, and organization skills
  • Ability to work independently in a fast-paced environment, a team player
  • Demonstrates values consistent with SHN’s Code of Conduct and is committed to fostering a healthy and positive work environment in accordance with Health & Safety policy and legislation
  • Demonstrates an understanding of and commitment to SHN's comprehensive safety programs and practices including staff safety, patient safety, and environmental safety and participates in regular in-service education in this area

  • Engages in ethical conduct and strives to understand and appreciate the diversity of our patient/staff population and community
