Salary: $53,654.00/yr - $67,068.00/yr

What qualifications are we looking for?

At YMCA Calgary we strive to ensure our employees are a fit based on their strengths, interests, and future goals. The successful candidate will have the following:

  1. Post-secondary diploma/degree in recreation, outdoor pursuits, or equivalent;
  2. Minimum of 3 years working in a supervisory capacity within an organization providing services for children and youth;
  3. Customer service experience and/or experience working in a health-focused or recreational facility;
  4. Experience managing an effective staff team to collaboratively achieve desired outcomes;
  5. Exemplary skills in the planning and delivery of developmentally appropriate day camp and climbing programs;
  6. Excellent oral and written communication skills, including intermediate use of technology;
  7. Budget development and management;
  8. NL certifications would be considered an asset;
  9. Current Standard First Aid with CPR-C certificated within the last 12 months from an approved AB OHS provider. Asset if certification is issued by one of the following five Canadian organizations: Canadian Red Cross, Heart and Stroke Foundation, Lifesaving Society, St John's Ambulance and/or Canadian Ski Patrol;
  10. Evidence of a cleared Police Information Check and Vulnerable Sector Search;
  11. Three professional references required.
What does this role look like at YMCA Calgary?

Duties and responsibilities include:

  1. Ensure excellent service by responding to the immediate needs of all users;
  2. Commit to exceptional quality in the delivery of programs and services within your strategic Integrated Leadership team area;
  3. Develop and manage the Integrated Leadership Team budget;
  4. Work cooperatively with the H&S Aquatics lead;
  5. Recruit and train your ILT staff team;
  6. Commit to ensuring your staff team is afforded relevant professional development opportunities;
  7. Be responsible for coaching and supporting all indirect reports within the branch;
  8. Ensure compliance to all health and safety systems, policies, and procedures within your branch;
  9. Ensure compliance of all certifications for staff and volunteers within your ILT;
  10. Support the general manager in ensuring the YMCA has a positive presence in the local community;
  11. Provide direct leadership and oversight to the Staff and Volunteer aspect of the Annual Campaign.
