Job summary

Learning Jungle is seeking a Center Director to ensure smooth operation and compliant classroom ratios per licensing regulations. You will supervise staff, uphold health and safety programs, engage parents, and manage records and budgets within the center.

The role requires an ECE diploma (or equivalent), RECE registration, and experience leading teams. This position emphasizes community engagement and ongoing staff development.

Qualifications

• Diploma in Early Childhood Education or equivalent recognized by the Ministry.
• Registered RECE and in good standing with the College of Early Childhood Educators.
• Minimum of 2 years of classroom experience as an ECE teacher.
• First Aid CPR Level C and Food Handler certification.

Join our team and make a difference in your community! We are looking for a Center Director that will ensure the smooth operation of the Center. They will always ensure that standards as set forth for children and teacher/group size ratios are maintained in accordance with child-care licensing regulations. The Center Director’s role includes but are not limited to staff supervision; health and safety program maintenance; parent-teacher involvement; community and public relations; supply and petty cash management; center policies/procedures and record administration.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

• Establish and maintain accurately all administrative records pertaining to children, staff and center in accordance with the Center Policies and Procedures (CPP) and CCEYA
• Review and implement administrative policies for the Center as required.
• Schedule the daily hours of arrival and departure for all staff including himself/herself and ensures that staff carry out their daily responsibilities
• Complete Staff Program Monitoring, Behavior Management, and General reviews
• Plan and conduct regular staff meetings.
• Develop good working relationships among staff, assist them in problem recognition with children and/or parents, and in developing a solution to these problems.
• Ensure that the programs offered to each group of children are in accordance with the Center's Program Statement.
• Work with the Director in organizing workshops / additional training opportunities for staff and parents.
• Develop and maintain a nutritional program for the Center (i.e. review planned menus and work with external agencies) to ensure that food being served to the children meets the requirements of the CCEYA.
• Assume different roles (ECE Teacher, Assistant, Kitchen Help) and to assist whenever any staff/program needs help (in compliance with the CCEYA).
• Ensure the health and safety of the children and the staff in the Center.
• Review room requirements with the staff and adhere to the Room Budget.
• Maintain a petty cash for purchase of sundry items like learning material, office supplies and grocery.
• Liaise with the Provincial/Regional Childcare, Public Health and Fire Department representatives.
• Organize fund-raising and other events (e.g. food drive) to promote the Center to the community.
• Welcome and conduct center tours for parents; arrange parent interviews for enrollment and ensure parents' understanding and acceptance of the Center's Program Statement and CPP
• Actively communicate with the parents through newsletters, notices, letters, telephone calls, individual meetings etc.
• Meet with the Regional Director at least once weekly and having daily telephonic contact for discussion, decision-making and in presenting a consistent management approach for all issues
• Other duties as necessary

• A recognized diploma in Early Childhood Education, or an equivalent, as established by the Ministry and be registered and be a current member in good standing with the College of Early Childhood Educators (http://www.college-ece.ca), throughout their employment or has been otherwise approved by a Director of the Ministry of Education
• Ability to assume all responsibilities attributable to an ECE Teacher for any classroom as needed
• Ability to work effectively and contribute in a multidisciplinary team as well work independently
• Proficient in Microsoft Office, Teams, Outlook, and general Internet usage.
• A minimum of 2 years experience working in a classroom as an ECE teacher.
• Registered RECE, Standard First Aid CPR Level C (Required), Food Handlers

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES

Manage day-to-day operations with staffing ratios, ensuring completion of various classroom checklists and children’s developmental screening.

WORKING CONDITIONS (INCLUDING PHYSICAL / SENSORY REQUIREMENTS)

Moderate to high level of on-going interactions and communication with staff, children and or families.

Need to be proactively attentive to all operations, including answering phone call, responding to email, covering for staff ratios/breaks, etc. Extended periods of stationary work (ex. computer use) with moderate work interruptions.
