Job summary

NextStar Energy, located in Windsor, Ontario, is seeking a Cell Process Engineer to install and manage lithium-ion cell manufacturing processes and equipment. The role requires understanding of PFD, PFMEA, CP, OEE, yield, and electrical/mechanical drawings, with strong problem-solving and collaboration skills.

Minimum qualifications include a engineering degree, CAD proficiency (AutoCAD, SolidWorks), and ability to work with cross-functional teams.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in engineering (Mechanical, Electrical, Mechatronics, Industrial)
  • MS Office report writing and oral communication skills
  • Advanced skill in CAD tools (AutoCAD, SolidWorks)
  • Ability to work with cross-functional teams to achieve goals
  • Computational skills, troubleshooting and statistical knowledge
  • Team player capable of multitasking in a dynamic environment
  • Legally allowed to work in Canada
  • Ability to lift up to 40 lbs
  • Experience with Siemens PLC desired (preferred)
  • Canadian safety certifications (ESA, PSR, TSSA) preferred
  • 3+ years manufacturing experience in lithium-ion batteries (preferred)
  • 2+ years spare parts management (preferred)

Responsibilities

  • Applies engineering techniques to install, modify, analyze, repair and test tools, machines, and other equipment
  • Collaborates with production engineers to implement procedures, resolve malfunctions, and provide technical information
  • Monitors production performance and suggests improvements
  • Investigates process or method failures and recommends maintenance actions
  • Evaluates customer design proposals and data for feasibility, cost, and maintenance requirements

Cell Process Engineer

The successful candidate will be responsible for "Installation and management of lithium-ion battery cell manufacturing process and equipment". This role requires a strong understanding of PFD, PFMEA, CP, OEE, yield, production result, and machine parts, mechanical and electrical drawing analysis, problem solving skills, communication and collaboration.

Responsibilities
  • Applies engineering techniques to install, modify, analyze, repair and test tools, machines, and other mechanically functioning equipment.
  • Confers with production engineers and other personnel to implement operating procedures, resolve system malfunctions, and provide technical information.
  • Monitor production performance and suggest improvements.
  • Investigates process, work method failures and difficulties to diagnose faulty operation, and to make recommendations to maintenance crew.
  • Researches and analyzes customer design proposals, specifications, manuals, and other data to evaluate the feasibility, cost, and maintenance requirements of designs or applications.
Minimum Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree in any engineering (Mechanical, Electrical, Mechatronics, Industrial, etc.)
  • MS Office tool-based report writing and oral communication skills
  • Advanced Skill of computational draft program [Ex. Auto CAD, Solid works]
  • Ability to work well with individuals and teams across the company to achieve team goals and targets
  • Computational Skill, Troubleshooting, Problem-solving, Statistical knowledge
  • A team player who can multitask and thrive in a very dynamic and fast-paced environment
  • Legally authorized to work in Canada
  • Ability to lift up to 40lbs
Preferred Requirements
  • Experience in control (especially Siemens PLC) preferred
  • Experience in Canadian Safety Certification (ESA, PSR, TSSA, etc.) preferred
  • Master's Degree in Engineering preferred
  • 3+ years manufacturing industrial experiences (Especially, lithium-ion batteries industry)
  • 2+ years of experience in equipment maintenance (Breakdown Maintenance, Preventative Maintenance) and troubleshooting (Problem Solving)
  • 2+ years of spare parts management
Environment
  • Willingness and ability to work in various PPE environment (construction PPE and cleanroom PPE)
  • Ability to work in cleanroom conditions with humidity ranging from 1% to 35%
  • Physically able to walk a minimum of 6,000 steps per day and lift up to 40 lbs
