Job summary

NextStar Energy in Windsor, Ontario is seeking a Cell Process Engineer to install, modify, analyze, repair and test lithium‑ion battery manufacturing tools and equipment. You will collaborate with production and maintenance teams to optimize OEE, yield and reliability, while applying CP, PFMEA and process documentation.

The role requires strong mechanical/electrical drawing interpretation and problem‑solving skills in a fast‑paced environment.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical, Electrical, Mechatronics, or Industrial Engineering.
• MS Office report writing and oral communication skills.
• Advanced CAD skills: AutoCAD and SolidWorks.

Responsibilities

• Applies engineering techniques to install, modify, analyze, repair and test tools, machines, and other mechanically functioning equipment.
• Confers with production engineers and other personnel to implement operating procedures, resolve system malfunctions, and provide technical information.
• Monitor production performance and suggest improvements.
• Investigates process, work method failures and difficulties to diagnose faulty operation, and to make recommendations to maintenance crew.
• Researches and analyzes customer design proposals, specifications, manuals, and other data to evaluate feasibility, cost, and maintenance requirements of designs or applications.

We are seeking a highly skilled Cell Process Engineer to join our team. The successful candidate will be responsible for “Installation and management of lithium-ion battery cell manufacturing process and equipment”. This role requires a strong understanding of PFD, PFMEA, CP, OEE, yield, production result, and machine parts, mechanical and electrical drawing analysis, problem solving skills, communication and collaboration.

Minimum Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in any engineering (Mechanical, Electrical, Mechatronics, Industrial, etc.)
• MS Office tool-based report writing and oral communication skills
• Advanced Skill of computational draft program [Ex. Auto CAD, Solid works]
• Ability to work well with individuals and teams across the company to achieve team goals and targets
• Computational Skill, Troubleshooting, Problem-solving, Statistical knowledge
• A team player who can multitask and thrive in a very dynamic and fast-paced environment
• Legally authorized to work in Canada
• Ability to lift up to 40lbs

Preferred Requirements

• Experience in control (especially Siemens PLC) preferred
• Experience in Canadian Safety Certification (ESA, PSR, TSSA, etc.) preferred
• Master's Degree in Engineering preferred
• 3+ years manufacturing industrial experiences (Especially, lithium-ion batteries industry)
• 2+ years of experience in equipment maintenance (Breakdown Maintenance, Preventative Maintenance) and troubleshooting (Problem Solving)
• 2+ years of spare parts management

Environment

• Willingness and ability to work in various PPE environment (construction PPE and cleanroom PPE)
• Ability to work in cleanroom conditions with humidity ranging from 1% to 35%
• Physically able to walk a minimum of 6,000 steps per day and lift up to 40 lbs
