Job Description

THE CENTRE FOR CONTINUING EDUCATION is hiring qualified instructors for the FALL 2025 semester for the program: Iyeskuwiiu - a culturally relevant college program for Eeyou-Eenou students in Eeyou Istchee, from August 18, 2025 to December 5, 2025. The courses are part of the CREE Springboard to Nursing, a two-semester program designed to prepare Eeyou-Eenou students culturally and academically for further studies.

Title: French for Indigenous Peoples I

Education:

  • Bachelor in Enseignement du français langue seconde, Linguistique, Littérature française or equivalent degree.

Additional Requirements:

  • Demonstrate knowledge of and commitment to culturally relevant, sensitive, and appropriate pedagogy.
  • In-depth knowledge of Eeyou-Eenou culture, history, society, and rights.
  • Several years’ experience teaching French as a second language at the post-secondary level preferred.
  • Preference for candidates with direct lived experience in Eeyou-Eenou communities, Cree classrooms, or Cree language skills; experience with Indigenous education is an asset.
  • Bilingual (French/Cree) candidates preferred.
  • English communication skills are an asset.
  • Online teaching experience preferred.

The courses will be conducted online. Teachers must also attend cultural training, hold office hours, and participate in program meetings throughout the semester. An additional up to 55 hours of paid work may be required.

Note: The selection committee may consider relevant professional or industrial experience in lieu of the minimum educational requirements. Higher education may substitute experience at the discretion of the committee.

Contracts depend on student enrollment. The schedule and location will be determined by the Centre for Continuing Education.
