Responsibilities

The CDS Trainee is responsible for conducting clinically based concurrent and retrospective reviews of inpatient medical records to evaluate the quality of care outcomes and reimbursement compliance for acute care services. The CDS Trainee will work closely with medical staff to facilitate proper clinical documentation of patient care. Other responsibilities include documenting inpatient admission criteria, conducting initial and extended-stay concurrent reviews on selected admissions, and documenting findings.

Qualifications

Education and Work Experience

Required qualifications:

  • Medical Graduate, PA, or Nursing Graduate.
  • Minimum of 3 years clinical experience in an acute care setting.
  • Knowledge of care delivery documentation systems and medical record documents.
  • Understanding of age-specific needs, disease processes, and related procedures.
  • Strong clinical knowledge and understanding of pathology/physiology.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, critical thinking skills.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills for effective collaboration with physicians, nursing staff, and hospital management.
  • Preferred qualifications:

  • Knowledge of inpatient admission criteria.
  • Ability to work independently in a time-sensitive environment.
  • Computer literacy and familiarity with basic office equipment.
  • Assertive personality traits to facilitate physician communication.
  • Knowledge of Medicare reimbursement systems and coding is a plus.
  • Prime Healthcare offers competitive compensation and a comprehensive benefits package, including paid time off, 401K, medical/dental/vision coverage, tuition reimbursement, and voluntary benefits. The estimated total compensation for this role ranges from $25.00 to $28.75 per hour, depending on experience, education, credentials, and other factors.
