Job summary

Annapolis Valley Regional Centre for Education seeks a Custodian at Cambridge District Elementary School to perform janitorial and minor maintenance tasks under the Custodial Supervisor. The rate of pay is per CUPE Collective Agreement at $23.05/hour. This is a term position effective immediately ending February 2, 2027.

Qualifications

Responsibilities

• Inspect electrical and mechanical equipment.
• Inspect playground equipment and sports facilities.
• Maintain safety equipment and follow safety procedures.
• Perform janitorial duties indoors and outdoors.
• Order and monitor custodial supplies.
• Perform minor repairs including screens, desks, lockers, electrical and mechanical.
• Arrange physical/facility requirements for events and rentals.
• Identify and report major maintenance requirements.

Under the supervision of the Custodial Supervisor, the successful candidate for this position will be required to perform a wide variety of janitorial and minor maintenance tasks.

Qualifications and Abilities:

• The successful candidate must be physically able to perform duties.
• Possess the knowledge and ability to apply modern cleaning methods and practices
• Have a thorough knowledge of building systems
• Be able to recognize safety hazards throughout the premises, and possess the knowledge and skills to perform the duties above.

Responsibilities:

• Inspection of electrical and mechanical equipment.
• Inspection of playground equipment and sports facilities.
• Maintain safety equipment and follow safety procedures.
• Perform janitorial duties as required (indoors and outdoors).
• Order and monitor proper use of custodial supplies.
• Perform minor repairs as required including but not limited to screens, desks, lockers, mechanical and electrical.
• Arrange physical/facility requirements for school events, rentals, etc.
• To identify and report major maintenance requirements.
