Introduction

The Chignecto Central Regional Centre for Education invites applications from Permanent, Probationary, and Temporary (Casual) employees currently with the Centre as well as outside applicants for the position of Licensed Mechanic. This is a full-time regional position serving the Celtic Family of Schools, based in West Pictou.

Minimum Requirements
  1. Province of Nova Scotia Truck (Bus) and Transport Mechanic Certificate or enrolled in an apprenticeship program; applicants must include a copy of the certificate, if applicable.
  2. Minimum of Grade 12 High School Graduation Certificate or equivalent through educational programs such as a GED.
  3. Minimum of three (3) years work experience in the trade (preference for commercial/industrial/educational settings).
  4. Must have training or be willing to receive training in applicable safety programs.
  5. Able to perform duties with minimal supervision.
  6. Valid Nova Scotia Driver’s License - Class 2 or higher, or willing to obtain such class.
Additional Assets
  • Ability to perform duties effectively with minimum supervision.
  • Must possess or be willing to obtain relevant health and safety courses in First Aid, WHMIS, etc., or other regulatory training courses.
  • Must demonstrate competency in computer skills.
  • Must be proficient and knowledgeable in diagnostic systems.
