The Government of Nova Scotia invites applications for a Literacy Coach for Grades 3-5 to enhance literacy instruction in collaboration with teachers. The successful candidate will have a strong understanding of the Nova Scotia curriculum and be dedicated to improving teaching practices and student achievement.
The Cape Breton-Victoria Regional Centre for Education is responsible for the administration of the public school system within the boundaries of Cape Breton and Victoria Counties, supporting approximately 12,000 students in 38 schools.

Literacy Coach Grade 3-5 - NSTU
Overall scope
The Literacy mentor will be responsible for working with classroom teachers in Grades 3-5 in a co-teaching and collaborative role. The successful candidate will have a comprehensive understanding of the Nova Scotia curriculum and the high-level literacy practices associated with strong classroom practice. Modelling of these practices by the mentor is an essential skill for this position. The candidate will be expected to have strong communication skills. As we move forward with 21st-century learning, it is an expectation that this position will be built around using student evidence to inform classroom planning. A candidate with experience scoring Provincial Assessments would be an asset. Please note this is a regional position, and this individual will serve all elementary schools in CBVRCE.
