SCOPE OF WORK: The Lab Operations Supervisor for the Center for Biofabrication and Advanced Manufacturing (C-BAM) is responsible for overseeing the establishment and development of the lab facilities, overseeing project timelines, coordinating equipment acquisition, and ensuring alignment with the C-BAM mission and goals. This role involves collaborating closely with the Principal Investigator (PI) to manage the development of CBAM facilities and lab activities within the grant budget and achieve its objectives. This position will report to the Principal Investigator and will be located at Manchester Community College.
Education: Bachelor’s degree or higher in a relevant field, such as Biotechnology, Biofabrication, Advanced Manufacturing, Engineering, or a closely related discipline. Each additional year of approved formal education may be substituted for one year of required experience.
Experience: Three (3) years’ experience in laboratory development, biotechnology, advanced manufacturing, or related fields, with project management and supervisory experience. Each additional year of approved work experience may be substituted for one year of required formal education.
Licensure/Certifications: Valid driver’s license or access to transportation for travel between campus facilities, if required.
Knowledge of biofabrication technologies and equipment, including biotechnologies, 3D printing, robotics, and CNC machines. Familiarity with safety standards relevant to biotechnology labs and advanced manufacturing environments.
Knowledge of laboratory operations, including equipment maintenance, safety protocols, and inventory management. Ability to supervise a team, including students and support staff, ensuring adherence to lab policies and procedures. Ability to troubleshoot and problem-solve for both equipment and technical issues in a lab setting. Ability to communicate effectively in writing and verbally and to work with diverse populations. Strong organizational skills and ability to manage multiple priorities and to meet established deadlines. Ability to work independently and as a member of a team. Ability to exercise proper judgment and to make decisions with minimal supervision. Ability to address matters with tact and diplomacy and to maintain confidentiality. A demonstrated commitment to maintaining a safe, clean, and well-organized lab environment that meets all safety standards.
