Job summary

City College Peterborough is seeking a dedicated Catering Technician to support learners in catering qualifications and provide English and Maths development, tutorial support, and learner wellbeing. You will work with teaching staff to help students overcome barriers to learning and progress toward their goals.

The role focuses on assisting in practical catering environments, delivering sessions when required, and contributing to a supportive, inclusive learning atmosphere for young people

Qualifications

• Level 2 Catering qualification is required.
• GCSE English and Maths at Grade C/4 or above (or equivalent).
• Ability to build positive relationships with young people.
• Excellent communication, organisational and teamwork skills.
• Use initiative with tact, patience and empathy.

• Support learners within practical catering lessons and kitchen environments.
• Deliver and support teaching sessions when required.
• Provide one-to-one and small group learning support.

• Monitor, support and record learner progress.
• Provide tutorial and pastoral support to young people.
• Help maintain a safe, organised and fully stocked kitchen environment.
• Monitor and replenish catering supplies and equipment.
• Work collaboratively with tutors and support staff to raise learner achievement.
• Contribute to the ongoing development of the department.
• Complete associated administrative duties and learner records.

City College Peterborough is looking for an enthusiastic, motivated and supportive Catering Technician to join our dedicated Study Skills team. This is an exciting opportunity for an individual who is passionate about helping young people succeed, both in the classroom and within practical catering environments.

In this varied and rewarding role, you will support learners studying Catering qualifications while also providing assistance with English and Maths development, tutorial support, and promoting learner wellbeing, confidence, and independence.

Working closely with teaching staff, you will play a key role in helping students overcome barriers to learning, achieve their qualifications, and progress towards their future goals.

This is a Term Time Only Position

About You

We are looking for someone who:

• Holds a Level 2 Catering qualification.
• Has GCSE English and Maths at Grade C/4 or above (or equivalent).
• Can build positive and effective relationships with young people.
• Has excellent communication, organisational and teamwork skills.
• Can use initiative while demonstrating tact, patience and empathy.
• Is flexible, reliable and committed to learner success.
• Ideally has experience of supporting learners with SEND.
• Has a passion for education, training and supporting others to achieve.
