Starting Hourly Rate: $22.00per hour

New Hire Schedule: M-F 9am-5:30pm, flexibility required

Job Summary

How you will make an impact:
You will be responsible for delivering and serving food and beverages at scheduled functions.

As a Catering Server/Receptionist, you will:

  • Assemble and deliver all food and supplies for catered functions to their scheduled locations
  • Log and maintain food temperatures
  • Assist with food and table prep before events begin
  • Arrange buffet tables with food, beverage, and service items according to standards
  • Serve plated dinners to guests and respond to requests for beverages, appetizers, and other needs
  • Keep display equipment clean and free of debris during meal service
  • Thoroughly clean location after event is completed and assist with inventory, food storage and other closeout tasks
  • Return food and beverages, serving equipment and utensils to catering facility
  • Stock, clean and maintain catering facility and equipment
  • Ensure guests receive friendly, courteous service at all times
  • Maintain in-depth knowledge of the complete menu and products on hand
  • Maintain clean and safe work environment
  • Follow safety and sanitation policy and procedures at all times
  • Occasionally, assist in Reception coverage when needed. Duties include:
  • Greet and handle visitors with a positive attitude.
  • Answer telephones in a friendly, professional manner, takes messages with accuracy and appropriately handles or refers questions and requests.
  • Handle on-floor conference room activities, both visually and by means of the reservations system, being aware of meeting start/end times, attendees in the room, food and beverage orders, etc. Advises the appropriate staff members of changes in meeting room status, special requests, etc.
  • Implement established security policies and procedures with regards to arriving and departing visitors, contractors, delivery people, etc.
  • Communicate requests to the appropriate internal support departments such as building maintenance (heating and cooling issues), IT (computer issues), AV technology (meeting room technical support), and mail room (package pickups and deliveries)

About you:

  • You must have a valid Food Handler Certificate or provincial equivalent and Responsible Beverage Service Certificate for the province in which you are applying
  • Minimum 1 year experience in a similar environment
  • Able to accurately read event orders and organize deliveries for the day
  • Ability to remain calm under pressure while working in a fast-paced environment
  • Strong oral and written communication skills
  • Extremely well organized and efficient; able to multi-task
  • Good attention to detail
  • Physical ability to carry out the duties of the position
  • One year of experience in a client service/reception position within a hospitality or corporate environment is preferred.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and knowledge of office technology/equipment.
  • Excellent listening and verbal communication skills.
  • Discreet, ethical, and committed to maintaining a high degree of confidentiality.
