Job description

Job Responsibilities

  1. Complete understanding of the sales/service philosophy and apply to all phases of the meeting planning process to include the transition from the sales manager, pre-planning, onsite execution, post meeting follow-up and relationship maintenance.
  2. Determine and actively solicit prospective customers from existing market information including but not limited to organization social committees, 3rd party planners, marketing and public relations firms and communications firms.
  3. Generate and present proposals and contracts to customers, tailored to their requirements.
  4. Negotiate catering & event bookings within established parameters.
  5. Work with hotel marketing team to promote hotel on social media websites.
  6. Entertain potential and existing clients.
  7. Assist clients in mapping out event programs to maximize hotel revenue and resources to exceed guest expectations.
  8. Work closely with all operating departments to exceed guest expectations by providing clear, timely and effective information.
  9. Upsell food and beverage menus to maximize revenues within set guidelines.
  10. Be available for clients during evenings & weekends as needed to secure business and assist during events.
  11. Perform comprehensive site inspections to “Create the Vision” of the event.
  12. Develop and continuously update action plans for review each month with Director of Catering.
  13. Independently responsible for achievement of new business generation and revenue objectives outlined in action plans and sales activities.

Requirements

  1. Minimum of 2-3 years experience in event design and/or event sales.
  2. Previous catering experience at a hotel or event venue is an asset.
  3. Experience with Delphi and Microsoft Word/Excel is beneficial.
  4. Ability to sell creative and innovative ideas to customers.
  5. Flexible hours based on upcoming events and groups to include weekends & evenings.
  6. Ability to communicate effectively (written & verbal) in English. Additional language skills are an asset.
