Job summary

Nutrien in Saskatoon, Canada, seeks a Category Specialist, Specialty Services, to advance category strategies and drive value through strategic sourcing and supplier management across site procurement, operations, and finance.

You will partner with stakeholders, perform spend analytics, guide complex sourcing events, and help mitigate risks while supporting contract management and lifecycle processes.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business, Supply Chain Management, Engineering, Finance, Commerce, or a related discipline.
  • 6+ years of experience in procurement, strategic sourcing, category management, supply chain, contract management, supplier management, or commercial analysis.
  • Experience supporting complex sourcing initiatives, supplier negotiations, contract implementation, and stakeholder engagement in a multi-site or matrixed organization.
  • Experience using quantitative analysis, market intelligence, and business insights to develop recommendations and influence decisions.
  • Comprehensive knowledge of source-to-contract, source-to-pay, spend analytics, supplier performance, and contract management processes.
  • Experience in industrial, mining, energy, agriculture, manufacturing, maintenance services, or other complex operational environments is considered an asset.

Responsibilities

  • Support the development and execution of category and sub-category strategies for Specialty Services, aligned with business requirements, site priorities, market conditions, and procurement objectives
  • Partner with Category Management, Site Procurement, Operations, Finance, Legal, and other stakeholders to understand demand, define requirements, operationalize sourcing outcomes, and support effective change management
  • Conduct spend analysis, market research, supplier assessments, total cost of ownership analysis, should-cost modelling, and opportunity assessments to support data-driven sourcing and category decisions
  • Lead or support complex sourcing events, including requirements gathering, RFI/RFP/RFQ development, supplier evaluation, commercial analysis, negotiation planning, award recommendations, and implementation
  • Support supplier relationship management activities, including performance monitoring, supplier business reviews, KPI tracking, corrective actions, innovation opportunities, and continuous improvement initiatives
  • Support contract formation, negotiation, implementation, compliance monitoring, renewal planning, and lifecycle management in partnership with Legal and business stakeholders
  • Identify supplier, operational, commercial, regulatory, safety, and continuity risks; develop mitigation plans and escalation issues as appropriate
  • Prepare supplier scorecards, value tracking, business cases, and executive-ready recommendations to support decision-making

What You'll Do

Reporting to the Sr. Manager, Category Management, the Category Specialist, Specialty Services supports the development, execution, and continuous improvement of category strategies for assigned services spend. This role partners with Category Management, Site Procurement, Operations, Finance, Legal, and suppliers to deliver measurable value through strategic sourcing, supplier relationship management, contract management, spend analytics, risk mitigation, and stakeholder engagement.
