Job description

ROLE PURPOSE

This position will provide casework and support to residents of Connective’s programs to enhance their quality of life, ensure the safe operation of the facility, and maintain the goals of counseling and rehabilitative plans.

Our Transitional Housing program offers safe, secure housing and wraparound support to people at risk of or experiencing homelessness. It provides 24 / 7 support tailored to each resident's needs and goals.

STATUS AND CLASSIFICATION

Unionized. This position is open to applicants of all genders.

HOURS

  • Shift Hours : Monday to Friday : 0800 - 1600; 1600 - 0000; 0000 - 0800

Saturday to Wednesday : 0700 - 1500; 1500 - 2300; 2300 - 0700

Thursday to Sunday : Thursday & Friday 0700 - 1500; 1500 - 2300; 2300 - 0700 and Saturday & Sunday 0800 - 1600; 1600 - 0000; 0000 - 0800

Casual employees must be available for at least 21 shifts per month, including seven overnight shifts. Full-time or full-time students are asked for 15 shifts per month, including five overnight shifts, with proof of employment or enrollment.

KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES

  • Participate in assessment, goal setting, and program planning for residents, including Personal Service Plans
  • Develop short-term plans based on client needs with active resident and family participation
  • Collaborate with staff, community service providers, government, and First Nations organizations to implement support plans aligned with harm reduction and Connective’s philosophies
  • Assist residents in functioning independently, including daily life, social skills, and behavior management
  • Recognize and manage emergency situations to minimize harm
  • Maintain health and safety standards
  • Oversee building safety and mitigate conflicts among residents and visitors
  • Conduct regular property walk-throughs

QUALIFICATIONS AND REQUIREMENTS

  • Ability to respond effectively in crisis situations
  • Successful Vulnerable Persons Criminal Records Check
  • Current Emergency First Aid Certificate

COMPENSATION

Unionized environment; starting wage $25.95 / hr plus 10.6% in lieu of vacation and benefits for casual positions. Wages increase after every 2,000 hours up to $29.76 / hr.
