Connective is a dynamic non-profit organization that provides innovative programming in the social services sector. We strive to create safe, healthy, and inclusive communities for all.

Role Purpose

This position will provide casework and support to residents of Connective’s programs to enhance their quality of life, ensure the safe operation of the facility, and maintain the goals of counseling and rehabilitative plans.

Program Description

Our Transitional Housing program offers safe, secure housing and wraparound support to individuals at risk of or experiencing homelessness. It provides 24/7 support tailored to each resident’s needs and goals.

Status and Classification

Unionized. This position is open to applicants of all genders.

Hours
  • Shift hours vary by schedule, including days, evenings, and overnight shifts.
  • Casual employees must be available for at least 21 shifts per month, including seven overnight shifts.
  • Full-time or students are expected to be available for 15 shifts per month, including five overnight shifts (proof of employment or enrollment required).

Key Accountabilities

As a Tenant Support Worker, your responsibilities will include:

  • Participating in assessments, goal setting, and program planning, including documenting and evaluating plans.
  • Evaluating client needs and developing short-term support plans with resident and family participation.
  • Collaborating with staff, community organizations, government agencies, and First Nations providers to implement support plans aligned with harm reduction and Connective’s philosophies.
  • Assisting residents to increase independence in daily living, social skills, and behavior management.
  • Recognizing and managing emergency situations to minimize harm.
  • Maintaining health and safety standards and overseeing building safety to prevent conflicts.
  • Conducting regular property checks and immediate response to issues.
Qualifications and Requirements
  • Ability to respond effectively in crisis situations.
  • Successful completion of a Vulnerable Persons Criminal Record Check.
  • Current Emergency First Aid Certificate.
Compensation

The starting wage is $25.95/hour plus 10.6% in lieu of vacation pay and benefits for casual roles, increasing after every 2,000 hours up to $29.76/hour.

Candidates must be legally authorized to work in Canada and provide proof of eligibility if selected.
