Carrier Sekani Family Services is seeking a Safe House Support Worker in Burns Lake, BC. You will provide compassionate, client-centered support to women and children escaping family violence, including intake, crisis intervention, case management, advocacy, and life skills, while fostering healing and independence.

You will help residents access housing, employment, budgeting and community resources, and facilitate workshops. A welcoming, culturally respectful environment is essential.

Qualifications

  • Diploma in Human or Social Services, Community Services, or related fields.
  • Certificate plus 2 years’ experience.
  • Equivalent combination of education, experience and knowledge.

Responsibilities

  • Provide client-centered support to individuals and families experiencing family violence and crisis.

  • Empower residents to build independence with housing, employment, budgeting, parenting and community resources.
  • Facilitate workshops and recreational activities for adults and children.

  • Foster a safe, welcoming, and supportive environment for all residents.

Job description

The Carrier Sekani Family Services Safe House program provides emergency sheltering, education, advocacy, referrals and healing services in a culturally immersed manner to women and children escaping family violence. The safe house is centrally located in Burns Lake and is available to women and their children affected by family violence throughout Northern BC.

The Safe House Support Worker is responsible for providing a range of support services and activities to work toward healing and empowerment of the women and children accessing our services.

What You’ll Do

As a Safe House Support Worker, you will provide compassionate, client-centered support to individuals and families experiencing family violence and crisis. You will support clients through intake, crisis intervention, case management, advocacy, life skills development, and aftercare services. You will empower residents to build independence through support with housing, employment, budgeting, parenting, and accessing community resources, while facilitating workshops and recreational activities for adults and children. You will help deliver culturally responsive services and traditional activities that promote healing, wellness, and resilience. This role also includes maintaining client records and reports, participating in team meetings and training, contributing to the daily operation of the Safe House, and fostering a safe, welcoming, and supportive environment for all residents.

Qualifications
  • Diploma in Human or Social Services, Community Services, and/or related fields; or
  • Certificate plus 2 years’ experience
  • Equivalent combination of education, experience and knowledge.
What We Offer

This role pays between $29.919 and $35.737 per hour, with most candidates starting between the minimum and midpoint. Where you land in the range will depend on your experience, skills, and overall fit, along with considerations like market conditions and internal equity.
