Job summary

The Thrive Group is hiring a Casual Registered Practical Nurse for AbleLiving Services in Paris, Ontario. The role provides nursing care to adults with disabilities and seniors within a defined scope of practice, with rotating 12-hour day and night shifts to ensure coverage.

Requirements include completing an approved LPN program and Ontario registration; assets include knowledge of behaviour strategies, prior disability/senior care experience, and strong communication.

Qualifications

• Completion of a vocational, college or other approved program for licensed practical nurses and registration with a regulatory body required.
• Must have successfully completed the Canadian Practical Nurses Registration Examination and possess a current Registered Nursing Certificate of Competence for the Province of Ontario.
• Knowledge of Behaviour Strategies is an asset.
• Experience as an RPN working with persons with a disability and the senior population is an asset.
• Must be able to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing.
• Must demonstrate the ability to use tact and discretion and display professionalism at all times; demonstrate sound judgment and flexibility and be able to solve problems effectively.
• Certification in health and safety and first aid is considered an asset.
• Must be able to meet the physical requirements of the job such as lifting and transferring of residents.

Responsibilities

• Monitor the health status of persons with disabilities and the senior population.
• Provide nursing services within defined scope of practice.
• Monitor the building to ensure the security and safetly of clients, staff and guests; take appropriate action in an emergency situation.
• RPNs must also be available for rotating days and nights, 12 hour shifts.
